Letter of Authorization

Description

  • Letter of authorization granting permission to Chinese workers to travel to Sumatra. 

  • The letter is written in Malay (left) and Dutch (right). 

Background Information

  • Part of a collection of mementoes belonging to Robert Rawlings who drilled in Sumatra on two contracts between 1880 and 1902.
