Description

  • Group of men are standing outside an oil rig in South America. 
  • Rig is being thatched in order to provide shelter from the hot sun which becomes unbearable at noon. 
  • George Rawlings can be seen wearing a pith helmet, on the far right. 

Background Information

  • Part of a photographic collection belonging to George Rawlings who drilled for oil in Africa and South America from 1910 to 1932.
